GFEST 2013 Visual Arts Exhibition: ‘Riot of Colours’

Beldan Sezen who is of Turkish origin, grew up in Germany and is now based in Amsterdam. Her drawings and paintings have been part of solo and group exhibitions in Amsterdam, London, Cologne and Berlin. Her poetry has been published in anthologies and magazines, as have many of her drawings and comic-strips.
Homœ is a graphic illustrations series that revisits the Stonewall Riots in New York to celebrate the arrival of LGBT equality.
Born in New York, raised in Australia Jason C Woodson now lives in the UK. He studied Illustration at university and published various comic books and comic strips in the USA. His work is in private collections around the world and has been featured in both print and digital media. A professional graphic designer, Jason divides his time between his homes in London and Barcelona.
Jason’s series of art works explore darker, deeper and meaningful corners within his image works and how they reflect sexual identities.
Marta Kochanek showed her works in the Mall Galleries in London, Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery as well as Verge Art Brooklyn and Leslie & Lohman Museum in New York. In 2012 Marta was invited to join Daegu Biennial in South Korea.
‘We love we make we exist’ – LME series – portrays LGBT families with their children and promotes their visibility. The images are part of a research and photography documentary project which was awarded by Arts Council England in 2013.
Simon Croft: Before completing BA in Fine Art from Kingston University, Simon spent ten years working in commercial manufacturing following a degree in Engineering. His work has been exhibited in several festivals and in galleries in London and San Francisco. Simon worked as a curator and also part time for the voluntary sector and is now a full time art practitioner.
Simon presents a series of work Disruptions – to explore the nature of expectations and what it means to challenge them; how disrupting conventions and complicating the ‘natural’ can lead to an altered perspective and new questions.
Sina Sparrow is a comics artist and illustrator who lives in East London. His work deals with identity, sexuality, relationships, experience and fantasy.
The works presented are part of Sina’s reinterpretation of zodiac signs – in a series called gay culture.
The National Archives LGBT History Exhibition will be showcased at the festival during 7 to 9 November.
